Natural rubber flip flops were commonly made in Japan up until around 30 years ago and the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake. Damage to the factory resulted in its closure and the end of the business.
Tsukumo decided to revive the making of natural rubber beach sandals which have superior comfort over typical flip flops. The natural rubber more readily clings to the soles of your feet and better cushioning means you can wear them all day.
